Chatroulette

March 12th, 2010

If you are one of the few remaining people not to have tried it out, watch this movie or this Daily Show clip and then come back here. The rest of you know that Chatroulette is a human slot machine where pretty much every other round comes up with some guy abusing himself or demanding that any ladies within range expose themselves. As a trained observer of human behavior I was professionally obliged to investigate. Bearing in mind the second sort of modal user, I used the following image:

Show me ur books

Selected perfectly SFW results follow.

Show me ur books

Show me ur books

Show me ur books

Show me ur books

Show me ur books

Show me ur books

After that, the constant barrage of dangly bits became tedious, so I don’t think I’ll be doing that again.

Genetically-Modified Super Trout Have 20% More Muscle, Telekenesis

March 12th, 2010

Okay, I made up the last bit. But these fish have been altered to grow far more muscular than normal trout:

The bodybuilder stature of the trout comes from turning off myostatin, a protein that normally slows muscle growth. Researchers had known of a natural myostatin mutation that allowed for 20 to 25 percent more muscle growth in Belgian blue cattle, but did not know if the same would apply to the different mechanism of muscle growth in fish.

Terry Bradley, a fisheries and aquaculture expert at the University of Rhode Island, worked with a group of grad students for 500 hours to inject 20,000 rainbow trout eggs with different DNA snippets designed to block myostatin.

About 300 eggs ended up carrying the gene for more muscle growth, and eventually produced fish that mostly have the six-pack ab appearance — even though the fish don’t have standard abdominal muscles. A big dorsal hump adds the appearance of muscular shoulders.

Opera Singer murders husband and then uses double to get fortune

March 12th, 2010

71-year wealthy fish Farmer, Hermann Hill, went missing from his home in the village of Kappel-Grafenhausen, near Freiburg (Germany), in October 2009. But sometime in December, his wife, 55-year old opera Singer Waltraud Hill, 55, showed up with him at a female lawyer's office in Freiburg, where she received power of attorney for all her missing husband's estate. She also visited a public notary with him. So, she got him to sign over to her his properties, stocks, bonds, cash and life insurance policy worth a fortune (5 million).

It was later revealed that Waltraud had taken an impersonator to the bank who was made to look like her husband Hermann Hill. It is reported that she approached up to 10 people to play the part of the "fake" husband. The final willing candidate had a make-up artist work on him to make him look like her husband.

Police believe that she killed her husband and then got an impersonator to get the fortune. The husband is believed to be dead, but there is no proof of his death yet.

The alleged deception was uncovered when another man Mrs Hill had asked to impersonate her husband came forward to police.

Detectives launched an investigation in which officers interviewed 7,000 people, and found another eight people who admitted they had been asked to pose as the bogus Mr Hill.

One allegedly told detectives: "She showed me a photo of this old geezer, said there would be a 'good drink in it for me' if I played him at a lawyer's office and at a notary's. I didn't want to get involved."

Police also traced the lawyer in Freiburg and she confirmed details of the transfer of wealth to Mrs Hill. Detectives did not arrest her immediately, but asked her to turn up at the police station with her husband for an interview.

On the day she was supposed to show with him she telephoned in advance to say: "I am terribly sorry, but he has been called away on a business trip."

The singer explained that Mr Hill had surprisingly appeared, then disappeared again, and has remained missing for two months.

Detectives have not found the body of Mr Hill, but his wife has been arrested and charged with murder and fraud.

A police spokesman said: "We have to go on the assumption he is dead and that she is responsible for it. In the weeks after she went to the lawyer she made many conflicting statements to us.

"She thought she had committed the perfect crime, never thinking that anyone would ask questions about why a missing man would turn up to sign legal papers and then go missing again." Source: www.telegraph.co.uk

Did she really think that she will get away with an impersonator after asking 10 people?
